The Cosener's House
The Cosener’s House sits alongside the river at Abingdon-on Thames, next to the grounds of the medieval Abbey of Abingdon, 8 miles from Oxford. The etymology of the name Cosener is derived from the Cuisinier or Kitchener (the official responsible for providing food for the Abbey). The medieval parts of the older buildings are now incorporated into a mid-eighteenth century house with beautiful gardens overlooking the Thames.
